Udaipur, a popular tourist destination in the state of Rajasthan, offers glimpses of the golden Rajput era in India.Those wanting to visit Udaipur won’t have any trouble as this lovely city is well connected with several major Indian destinations via air, road and rail. While the Udaipur Airport, also popular as Maharana Pratap Airport and Dabok Airport, is just 20 km away from the city centre, the Udaipur Railway Station is within 5 km radius. Those travelling by road from nearby cities can avail of the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) bus services to reach Udaipur which is economic and convenient too.

Being a popular tourist attraction, a number of Autos, taxis, tongas and city buses ply from various parts of the city to the palace complex. Ferry rides from City Palace to Jagmandir can also be availed at a price of Rs. 400 per person. You can also book a private cab from top car rental companies in Udaipur to explore City Palace and other nearby places

The winter season from October to March is considered as the best time to visit City Palace as the weather is quite enjoyable during this time.

The entry fee to the City Palace is Rs. 30 for Adults and Rs. 15 for children. Rs. 200 is charged for Still Camera and Rs. 500 is charged for Video Camera. City Palace Timings are from 9:30 am in the morning to 5:30 pm in the evening. It is open on all days of the week.

The entry fee to the City Palace Museum is Rs. 250 for Adults (Above 18 yrs age) and Rs. 100 for Children (5 to 18 yrs age). There is no entry fee for children below 5 years of age. The camera fee is Rs. 250. For students coming in groups, the entry fee is Rs. 100 per student. City Palace museum is open from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm on all days of the week.

Timings of Lake Pichola are from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on all days of the week. For Boating in Lake Pichola, the opening time is 10:00 am and closing time is 5:00 pm
There is no entry fee to visit Lake Pichola. However, for a boat ride in Lake Pichola during daytime and afternoons, the tickets are priced at Rs. 400 for Adults and Rs. 200 for Children. For Sunset boat ride, the ticket fee is Rs.700 for Adults and Rs.400 for children.

ATTRACTIONS OF LAKE PICHOLA

LAKE PALACE

Built in 1740s by Maharana Jagat Singh, Lake Palace is one of the most famous attractions of Lake Pichola. Also known as Pichola Palace or Jag Nivas, this palace sits magnificently on the Jag island. Now a heritage hotel of Taj Group, Lake Palace has over 80 rooms and served as a summer retreat for the Maharanas of Udaipur city. Spanning over 4 acres, the palace covers the entire of the Jag island looking as if it is floating on the waters. The interiors of the Lake palace are as impressive as the exteriors. With stained glass motifs, fountains and parks, the palace is sure to mesmerise everyone with its architectural beauty.

MANSION/HAVELI

A number of mansions were built along the banks of Lake Pichola, with some of them being converted into hotels. One such Haveli that is quite famous is the Bagore ki Haveli which houses a museum. It also holds cultural shows during evenings

CHABUTARAS

Raised platforms can also be seen along the banks of Lake Pichola used for various purposes mostly within a courtyard. One such platform is Natini Chabutara that has an interesting legend associated with it. Natini, a tightrope walker who used to live during the reign of Maharana Jawan Singh (1828–38) was asked by the drunkard king to cross the lake on a tightrope from a village on the west bank of the lake to the City Palace on the east bank. He promised to gift her half of the Mewar kingdom if she would successfully cross the lake.
